MG Motor India unveiled its first product -- MG Hector -- last week, where company officials also disclosed new details about the company's upcoming all electric SUV, the MG eZS. This MG electric SUV was unveiled at the London Motor and Tech Show last week, where the British carmaker spilled the beans about the drivetrain as well as safety features of the UK-spec MG eZS. MG noted that the MG eZS, a.k.a. MG ZS EV in the UK, will come powered by a 44.5 kWh water-cooled battery. This battery will also support rapid charging, which means it will be able to charge from zero to 80 percent of its full capacity in 43 minutes. However, when charged domestically on a 7 kWh charger, the battery will take six-and-a-half-hours to charge from zero to 100 per cent.

Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales and Marketing, MG Motor UK, said, “The arrival of the MG ZS EV represents the start of MG’s long-term brand and product expansion plan and we’re delighted to be able to share it with the British public for the first time. ZS EV adds a new dimension to the car market by offering high-tech zero-emissions transport to a broader cross-section of buyers. The initial interest in ZS EV is extremely encouraging and confirms that car buyers are looking for a practical, versatile and stylish electric vehicle. It will also be the most high-tech MG yet."

In terms of features, MG says that the eZS will be its most technologically advanced SUV and will come loaded to the gills. These will include a panoramic sun-roof, satellite navigation, key-less entry, and much more. The UK-spec electric MG ZS SUV will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the India spec MG eZS will likely use the iSmart system featured on the MG Hector.

For safety, the UK model of the MG eZS will get MG's ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems) suite as standard. This will include pedestrian alert control system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, traffic assist with automatic low-speed steering, and autonomous emergency braking along with multiple airbags and ABS. As reported last week, the MG eZS will arrive in India in December 2019 and will be priced between ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh. In terms of specifications of the drivetrain, we expect it to be different from the UK spec eZS so that it can achieve a range of 300 km on a single charge.
