Good news for Telangana youth, new opportunity to get trained in artificial intelligence

Microsoft and Nasscom have joined hands with telangana academy for skill and knowledge (task) and telangana state council of higher education (TSSHEE) to implement the "March to Million" initiative in Telangana. The mega initiative was launched this morning with the aim of skilling over a million youth in artificial intelligence by 2021.

The AI Classroom Series course introduces students to concepts of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science. This will help students increase their job efficiency by acquiring the skills needed by the industry today. Sessions will commence from November 23. Announcing 2020 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, IT Minister K T Rama Rao said, "Today industry, regardless of the domain, needs smart technology-based solutions that reduce resource consumption and increase productivity. We need telangana youth to be skilled in these fields. I am glad that the task and TSCE have partnered with this initiative. Our state students should take this opportunity to master these emerging technologies.

"Digital skills likeAI are in all fields and traditionally they are in unwanted roles," said Amit Agarwal, CEO of IT-ITEs Sector Skill Council. Non-tech professionals do not need prior certificates, but they should still be digitally skilled and aware. Today everyone needs to develop a digital strength on new-age technologies. We are happy that the Telangana government has recognised this need and decided to adopt the AI Classroom Series jointly. Nasscom Future Skills and Microsoft Initiative in the State. We hope that this step will pave the way for theAI- ready talent building for the state and accelerate the development of the AI ecosystem in the state. "IT exports in Telangana grew by 18 per cent in 2019-20, reaching number two in India in the state based on IT exports. The million project from March is another major step to create ai-readytalent pool in Telangana, thereby strengthening the IT ecosystem in the state.
