Kokrajhar, Today, twelve civilians and an ultra were killed while several others injured when a group of heavily armed militants opened fire in a crowded market place in Assam's Kokrajhar district.

It has been reported that at around 11.30 am, shootout broke out in a busy market area in Kokrajhar Assam. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the killings and directed the authorities to provide medical aid to the injured.

According to the DGP of Assam, “three to four militants were still on the run, and the area has been cordoned off. The search is still on even as one terrorist has been shot dead. A fierce gunbattle is underway in Barzan bazaar.”
