Today, Milkha Singh is celebrating his birthday. He has elevated the name of India in the world. Milkha Singh was born on 20 November 1929. He participated in many races for India and won most of the races. 

During his career, he won around 75 races. He finished fourth in the 400-meter race at the 1960 Olympics. It took him 45.73 seconds, which was a national record for 40 years. Milkha has been awarded the Padma Award in 1959 for her outstanding performance, and was also given the Arjuna Award in 2001, but did not accept it.

Milkha was the only player to win a gold medal in athletics at the Commonwealth Games, but Krishna Poonia later won a gold medal in the discus throw in 2010. He also won gold medals in the 1958 and 1962 Asian Games. Milkha has represented India in several international tournaments. His parents, brothers and two sisters died during the partition of India-Pakistan. After independence, he lived with his sister after coming to India. Once he was imprisoned for travelling without a ticket.
