Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said the minimum age of marriage for women should be raised from the current 18 years to 21 years.
I want to make this a matter of debate. The country and state should reflect on this. At every village and block level, we will set up a Child Protection Committee. Information about crimes against women at the district level will be shared with each one-stop center.
In fact, on Monday, the state-level women's awareness campaign "Samman" was launched by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to ensure the active participation of the society in the eradication of women crime. During this period, "real heroes" who helped the victim after preventing or occurring crimes were also honored. CM Chauhan said that this government will not remain mute spectator. The resolve of this government is to destroy the criminals.
On one hand we will raise awareness and on the other hand we will punish the criminals hard. He further said that he has taken the matter of missing girls continuously from Madhya Pradesh seriously. During the lockdown last year, between April and December, a total of 7000 girls went missing. Out of 7,000 missing girls, the police have searched around 4000, while 3000 remain clueless. Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that panic buttons will be mandatory in public transport and other public utility vehicles.
A new system will be implemented where any girl goes out for work; they will be compulsorily registered at the local level. For their safety they will be constantly tracked and they will be given some contact numbers so that they can contact in times of crisis. CM Chauhan said that he has given strict orders to act tough on rapists and reminded the audience that MP was the first state which implemented a law for the death sentence of rapists.
