Bhubaneswar: 165 people have been killed and 187 others injured in police encounters in Odisha in the last ten years. While answering a question in the Assembly, Minister of State for Home Divyashankar Mishra has given information in this regard, he has said that 165 people died and 187 people were injured in police encounters from 2010 to 20 November 2019.

Answering another question, the minister informed that 15 districts of the state are affected by Naxalite activities. Minister of State for Home Divyashankar Mishra has said that between 2015 and 31 October 2019, a total of 115 encounters have taken place between Naxalites and security personnel. Three police personnel, three Central Security Force personnel and 11 civilians were killed in these incidents.

Mishra has also informed that the state government is implementing the surrender and rehabilitation scheme to bring Naxalites into the mainstream.
