Ministry of DoPT informs 23 states and 8 UTs abolished Job Interviews

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister has said so far interviews for Jobs has been abolished in 23 States and 8 Union Territories of India. It is a close move to the abolition of interview for Group-B (Non- Gazetted) and Group - C posts in the Central Government ever since 2016.It is a move to adopt the suggestion given by Honorable PM of India to abolish the interviews in the job selection and making the job selection totally on the basis of written test to avoid the apprehension and anxiety of the candidate to be interviewed and his/her family.

Within three month of his announcement, DoPT announced its cancellation of interview in Central Government Jobs from January 1, 2016. With variation in adaptation time, the process is taking a longer duration. Few states like Maharashtra and Gujarat implemented this rule immediately whereas few others are reluctant in changing their job recruitment process. As of today, only 5 states are out of this scenario. Before the abolition there were complaints, grievances and allegations about the manipulation of marks in interview to favor someone. The abolition offers equal – level playing field to all candidates, said the minister.

The abolition brings transparency and objectivity in the process. Economically it avoided the expenditure for interviews and saves the State Exchequer as the interview prolongs for n number of days with thousands of candidates. The complaints about compromising written test mark with interview marks for unfair treatment is also resolved. The money allegations relating to interview also is avoided.
