Mirabai Chanu, who won India a silver medal in weightlifting in Tokyo Olympics, is to be honored by CM Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. In a program organized at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in the capital, Chief Minister Yogi handed over a check of Rs 1.5 crore to Mirabai and increased her fiercely. On this occasion, Chanu's coach was also honored by the Chief Minister by handing over a check of Rs 10 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mirabai said, "I express my gratitude for receiving such an honor. We have never got such an identity before, so it is a proud moment for us. Chanu from Manipur has become the first woman to win a silver medal in weightlifting for India. She has won silver medals for India in the 49 kg weight class of the women's weightlifting category.

India had won a total of 7 medals including 1 gold, 2 silver, and four bronze at the Olympics this time. After which the UP government had announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore to gold medalists, 1.5 crores to silver medalists, and One crore to bronze medalists.
