Dhaka: A case of fire by unidentified criminals has been reported at the 400-year-old Parurkul Ashtagram Maha Crematorium and Radha Govind Ashram in Mohammadpur sub-district of Bangladesh's Magur district. Three rooms, chariots, and sculptures have been burnt down by the fire.

Swapna Rani Biswas, former vice-president of the Mohammadpur Sub-district Council and former secretary of the organizing committee of the Hindu-Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, has given information in this regard. She said that some cleaning workers came to the Gurdas temple and saw a fire here. The administration and the fire brigade were later informed. However, the fire was extinguished before the fire brigade arrived from Mohammadpur.

Meanwhile, Mohammadpur Sub-district Nirbhahi Officer Ramananda Pal, Assistant Commissioner Bhoomi Harikrishna Adhikari, OC Tarak Nath Biswas of Mohammadpur police station, and chairman of local Mir Shahzad Ali reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. Later, senior administration officials including Magura Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Alam and Senior Superintendent of Police Zahirul Islam also went on the spot.
