The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is about to send Sunita Williams along with the crew of astronauts to International Space Station in a private spacecraft named Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft for the first American space agency’s first manned mission to ISS in last five years.

Sunita Williams said in a statement, “These simulators have touch screen displays, which means they are more versatile than previous spacecraft trainers,”. “We can run multiple simulations by just changing software and then put that same software into a bigger crew simulator, which we will use to train the whole crew for a spaceflight,” she added.

To prepare a crew to successfully fly a mission and recover from unforeseen events, it is critical for the simulators to interact with launch and mission controllers to run rehearsals.

NASA selected four astronauts – Williams, Boe, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley – to train for test flights aboard the Starliner ?and SpaceX Crew Dragon to the ISS.

To practice numerous situations from normal operations to unlikely emergencies, the trainers will be shipped to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston this year.

Astronauts spends hours in simulators so that they can be familiar with planned activities and can get ready to fly in space.
