New Delhi: Indian women's cricket team veteran and former captain Mithali Raj has said goodbye to T20 cricket. However, she will remain in ODI cricket. Mithali leads the Indian women's team in 32 T20 Internationals. It also includes three Women's T20 World Cups. Right-handed batsman Mithali Raj captained the Indian team in 2012 (Sri Lanka), in 2014 (Bangladesh) and in the T20 World Cup in 2016 (India).
However, under the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian team never became a world champion in T20 International cricket. Mithali is the first woman T20 captain of India, who captained the Indian team to T20 International cricket for the first time against England in the derby back in 2006. Apart from this, she became the first player to score 2000 runs in T20 International cricket for India. Mithali Raj had completed 2000 runs in T20 International cricket before Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Mithali Raj has represented 88 T20 matches for India. In these matches, Mithali's bat has yielded 2364 runs with 17 half-centuries, which is the highest run by India in T20 cricket. After retiring, she said that after representing the Indian team since 2006, I want to say goodbye to this format. I am currently focusing on the 2021 ODI World Cup. She also thanked BCCI for this.
