CHENNAI: In a tragic event that unfolded on July 25, two lives were lost due to an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing factory located in Sivakasi City, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. The untimely demise of these individuals prompted Chief Minister MK Stalin to express his condolences to the grieving families. To show his support during this difficult time, the Chief Minister announced that an ex gratia payment of Rs. 3 lakhs would be given to each of the bereaved families.

The authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with the police officials launching an investigation into the matter. However, further details regarding the cause of the explosion are still awaited as the investigation progresses.

Earlier, Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his deep sorrow upon hearing about the unfortunate fire accident that took the lives of these individuals in Thaailpatti village near Sivakasi. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the grieving families.

In a separate and unrelated incident in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla, an explosion occurred at a restaurant in Middle Bazar, resulting in one fatality and injuries to nine other individuals. In response, the National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) team conducted a meticulous inspection of the restaurant to gather evidence and determine the cause of the blast. Additionally, the team interacted with the injured individuals in the hospital to obtain vital information related to the incident.

To ensure a thorough investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already been assembled to delve into the Shimla blast case. Furthermore, a forensic team from State FSL Shimla has been actively involved in the inspection.

The National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC), established back in 1988 and operating under the National Security Guards (NSG), plays a critical role in Post Blast Investigation (PBI) activities. These efforts are essential for comprehending such incidents and working towards preventing them in the future.
