Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks on Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He claimed on Saturday that now the 'Modi era' (PM Modi's influence) is coming to an end. That is why Devendra Fadnavis has to seek votes in the name of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb.

Uddhav Thackeray's statement came a day after Devendra Fadnavis spoke about fulfilling Balasaheb Thackeray's dream by winning the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He had said that it is the responsibility of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) EVA-BJP coalition government led by Eknath Shinde to fulfil Balasaheb's dream.

Fadnavis had further said that Eknath Shinde is leading the real Shiv Sena that follows Balasaheb's ideas. He had also said that those who came to power with Balasaheb at the centre. He badly crushed Balasaheb's dreams by ignoring the common Mumbaikar. Attacking Fadnavis' statement, Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that by seeking votes in the name of Balasaheb, Fadnavis has in a way accepted that now the 'Modi era' is over. Uddhav Thackeray further said, "It has been the policy of the BJP that they look for a new name every time and then start asking for votes on the basis of that name." He said "This is the real face of the BJP. But in the upcoming municipal elections of Mumbai, people are going to give a befitting reply to the BJP.''
