All these communities are minorities in their nation. Those people of these religions with whom their nation has been oppressed can now be entitled to get citizenship of India. In India till now, the condition was to stay in the country for 11 years for getting citizenship, the period which has been reduced through amendment. The bill provides for citizenship to refugees from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan after 6 years of stay in India.
