Modi government tightens order to monitor social media against CAA and NRC

New Delhi: In order to prevent the protests like the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University, the Center has decided to monitor the social expression of the students as a precaution. According to the news, sources in the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development have revealed that the government has issued an initial circular.

In this circular, institutions and universities like IIM and IITs of the country have been asked to monitor the social media activities of students in view of the fear of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. In addition to the students, there will also be teachers under surveillance. Students and teachers have been ordered to keep an eye on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Messenger apps, and it has also been asked to submit a report in this regard to the government.

The JD of the circular mainly consists of students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and University of Delhi (DU), where CAA already has demonstrations are being watched.
