In fact, the Modi government can continue the current anti-dumping duty on the import of transparent glass sheets. The Commerce Ministry has recommended continuation of this fee.

Such glass sheets are used in windows, doors and vehicles etc. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the investigative unit of the ministry, has recommended to retain this fee after completing its investigation in this regard. The DGTR has said that if the anti-dumping duty is removed, the dumping is likely to harm the domestic industry. In view of this, DGTR has recommended to continue the anti-dumping duty on import of transparent glass sheets from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The current anti-dumping duty on transparent glass sheets expires in December.
