According to media reports, it is being considered to change the name of Delhi's Rajpath to 'Kartavya Path'. In this regard, a meeting of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has been convened on Wednesday (September 7, 2022). In this meeting, a proposal to rename Rajpath as Kartvya Path will be presented. It is there that the proposal will be stamped. It is being told that the entire route from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's statue to Rashtrapati Bhavan at India Gate is to be renamed as 'Kartavya Path'.
During the British rule, Rajpath was called 'Kingsway'. Kingsway was named after King George V of the British. However, now it seems that the government is considering changing all the names from the British rule to the Mughal rule. The government had recently removed St George's Cross from the Indian Navy flag. Whereas, earlier the road on which the PM's residence is located was also renamed from Race Course Road to 'Lok Kalyan Marg'.
