Kolkata: Attacking on Prime Minister Narendra ModWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that he needs a 'slap of democracy' and reportedly likened him to Raavan and Duryodhan.

The war of the words started between Modi and Banerjee began with a heated exchange of words over PM Narendra Modi daring Banerjee to arrest him for saying 'Jai Shri Ram'. Modi's reference came after a video showing Banerjee fuming at villagers for shouting Jai Shri Ram, went viral on social media on Saturday.

 "When Modi comes to Bengal and says that I am a top extortionist, I wish to slap him hard. A slap of this democracy is what he needs."  Banerjee said while addressing to a rally.

Earlier, Modi had, while addressing a rally at Tamluk had started his speech with Jai Shri Ram and dared Banerjee to arrest him. Later, on Monday, while addressing a rally at Bishnupur, Banerjee hit out at Modi saying, "You BJP babu, you say Jai Shri Ram but have you built even one Ram temple? At the time of elections, Ram Chandra becomes your party agent; you say 'Ram Chandra is my election agent'. You say Jai Shri Ram and force others to say it."
