Modi Tsunami: BJP set to return to power

If the exit poll results turn out to be correct, Narendra Modi’s decision to make the 2019 election all about Narendra Modi has worked like a charm. Ever since the first EVM was opened for the counting of the votes, the BJP has continued its dominance over the country just like it did in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Although it is too early to write a political epitaph, the Narendra Modi tsunami across the country has put the left parties on their deathbeds.

Currently, the BJP alone has managed to hold its dominance in 287 Lok Sabha constituencies. The NDA, collectively, is nearing 350 marks. It is currently leading on 341 Lok Sabha seats. The prime minister’s personal popularity appears to be the single biggest factor powering the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance to 2014-like hands down the victory, underlining the efficacy of the “Modi hai to Mumkin hai” slogan.

The UPA is leading on just 91 seats. In the 2014 General Elections, Congress had won just 44 seats. While the numbers have improved for the Congress party, it has failed to lead even in 100 seats. In the former stronghold of West Bengal, the Left is unlikely to open its account in the state this time. Many analysts feel that it was tactical voting by the communist cadres in the state to put a spoke in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s wheels. It was a natural grouse against the Trinamool supremo who ended their 34 years of uninterrupted rule in the state.

As the BJP comfortably sailed through the Lok Sabha Election Results 2019 with leads in over 300 seats, the BJP workers have started celebrating with dhols and sweets. They were also heard chanting "Jai Shri Ram".
