Due to the rapidly spreading corona infection, the Union Health Ministry has issued guidelines for health care workers i.e. health workers working in hospitals. These guidelines have been issued for both hospitals and other hospitals treating Coronavirus infected patients. The Ministry has advised the hospitals to activate their Hospital Infection Control Committees (HICC). These committees will have the responsibility of arranging for infection prevention and control (IPC) and the general training of employees in hospitals.
The guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health stated that every hospital should appoint a nodal officer (infection control officer). This Nodal Officer will take care of everything related to the health workers getting infected. The Nodal Officer will ensure that the health workers working in the hospitals use PPE as per the danger of their zone based on the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.
Apart from this, it has been said in the guidelines that all health care workers should have thermal screening daily. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers, masks, and other items should be made available to health workers. Also, the health worker who does not follow the PPE kit and other guidelines should be informed immediately.
