New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) estimates that a low pressure area is expected to form in and around the North Bay of Bengal around June 11. It will help in advancing the monsoon across eastern India. As a result, monsoon is expected to advance in most parts of Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand and parts of Bihar during June 12, 13.

Under the influence of this low pressure area, widespread rainfall activity is likely to occur in eastern India and most parts of adjoining central India from June 10. Odisha is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during June 8 to 11. The Meteorological Department said that monsoon is expected to hit Gangiya West Bengal on June 10 and 11, Jharkhand and eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh by June 11 on June 11.

Odisha is also following heavy rains on June 11. Rain activity is likely to increase on the west coast including Maharashtra from June 11. Due to strong south-westerly winds and other favourable weather conditions, widespread rainfall is likely to occur in the northeastern states during the next 4-5 days.
