New Delhi: Former England player Monty Panesar has admitted that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may be under pressure over Virat Kohli's place in the national team. Former India captain Virat Kohli has been facing poor form for the past few months and is struggling to maintain his place in the T20 team.
Monty Panesar, who has played 50 Test matches for England, compared Virat Kohli with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that the fan following of both the players is very high. Panesar feels that India is sticking with Kohli because leaving the former captain could result in losses in his sponsor's deal. Speaking to the media, Monty Panesar said, "He's like Cristiano Ronaldo. Whenever he plays for Manchester United. Everyone watches football. Something similar is true with Virat Kohli. He also has a huge fan following, which likes to watch him play.''
He further said, 'Is BCCI also under pressure? Whatever the outcome, whatever the role of Virat Kohli, to keep the sponsor happy? This is probably the biggest question. They can't drop Kohli or take the risk of dropping him. Why they will probably lose huge financial sponsorship.'
'Same Manchester ground and Bad memories of 2019,' will Rohit Brigade be able to make history?
