In the 2021-22 academic year alone, 27,311 students were enrolled. More than 19,000 of these students are from private schools. The number of students in the current academic year as on July 22 is 1,02,605.
There are various reasons for parents and students to flock to government schools. That's the decent thing to do, and it should end there. People's livelihoods have been severely affected by the corona general freeze. As a result, many are unable to meet their basic needs. In this context, many students are unable to continue their education in private schools. There are allegations that many schools are being forced to ask for the full amount, even though the government has announced that 75 per cent of the fees can be paid in three installments.
As a result, many are moving to public schools. Why pay so much to conduct a few hours of lessons online. So they get alternative certification and enroll in government schools. Many parents have decided that the situation will be taken care of in the next academic year. The big challenge for school education is how to retain students who have come to government schools under some compulsion. Improving the infrastructure in public schools can retain these students while attracting more students while providing quality education than private schools. Otherwise there is a danger that students will return to private schools after Corona at the speed at which they arrived.
