England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan once recalled the historic final of the 2019 World Cup. England became world champion for the first time on 14 July last year under the captaincy of Morgan. The final of the World Cup 2019 between England and New Zealand at the historic Lord's ground became one of the most spectacular and memorable World Cup finals in the history so far. England won the World Cup for the first time by defeating New Zealand based on the controversial boundary counting rules.

Recalling that thrilling final, Morgan said that "At some point, I felt that the match had gone out of my hands. There was a time only for a few seconds when I doubted my victory. Jimmy Neesham was bowling to Ben Stokes then. He bowled slow. Ben played him and I guess the ball was flying in the air. After going straight to the ball, he picked up and went away and for a moment I thought if we were out, we would lose". Morgan said, "We still needed 15 runs in one over. Then I felt for a second that now we will lose."

In the first super over so far in the history of World Cup, both teams could score 15-15 runs. But England imposed a total of 26 boundaries in the match, while New Zealand had only 17 boundaries and England was declared the winner on the basis of boundary rule.
