Morocco, the African country, has extended the suspension of all regular international passenger flights, over worries on new Omicron Covid-19 variant, according to reports.

The two-week suspension of international passenger flights, which began on November 29, will be extended till further notice, according to a MAP report. This suspension is part of Morocco's efforts to safeguard its pandemic-fighting efforts and protect its residents' health, according to the report.

In the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health in Morocco recorded 146 new Covid-19 infections, increasing the country's total number of confirmed cases to 951,092. The Ministry also announced two deaths, bringing the total death toll in the country to 14,794.

In Morocco, the total number of people who have been properly vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus has reached 22,759,148, accounting for more than 70 percent of the target population. According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 24,456,314 first doses of Covid-19 vaccination have been provided in Morocco, with 1,934,837 persons receiving booster shots.
