Most common diseases and illness in summer

Measles

Measles are popularly known as rubeola or morbilli and this mostly occurs in the months of summer. Measles is a condition where the paramyxo virus affects the lining of the throat. Runny nose, high fever, red eyes and sore throat are its initial symptoms. Mostly MMR vaccine is given to children and other people who are more prone to getting infected with the disease.

Jaundice

Jaundice or Hepatitis A is another water prone disease that affects large number of people especially in summer days. Hepatitis A affects the living causing over production of bile. To prevent from suffering from jaundice, there are various vaccines available but the best way to be protected is to stay away from street or junk food. You should also avoid eating at unhygienic places.

Yellow eyes, discoloration of skin, dark coloured urine, light coloured stool and itching of the skin includes its initial symptoms.

Cough

Contrary to belief that cough is cause only in cold winter days; they can affect you throughout summer. Unseasonal cough is cause in summer days and it prolongs upto more than a week. It is always advised to stop drinking extremely chilled water prior and after you have already suffered from cough. You should stay away from too warm and too cold areas alternatively.

Typhoid

Typhoid or the typhoid fever is one among the most popular disease that people suffer during summer days. It is caused by A bacteria called Salmonella typhi. Passed on by the oro-feacal route, the bacterium is commonly found in unsanitary food or water sources. Pains in abdomen, weakness, high fever, fatigue are the initial symptoms of the disease.

Typhoid can be cured with two types of vaccine available in the market one is a vaccine that uses the killed bacteria, and is injected into a person. The second is the attenuated or weakened bacterium that is administered in the form of medicine or a pill.

Mumps

Mumps is highly contagious disease that generally affects children as their system is too weak. A child can suffer from mumps if mumps virus is transmitted to his body while someone is sneezing or coughing. Apart from fatigue, tiredness, headache, fever, swelling of the salivary glands is one of the primary symptoms of getting infected with mumps. To protect your child from mumps it is advised to take The MMR vaccine.
