Motorola has launched MotoTag, a cutting-edge item tracker tailored specifically for Android users, marking a direct competitor to Apple's AirTag. This advanced device integrates seamlessly with Motorola's ecosystem and leverages Google's Find My Device network along with Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology for precise tracking capabilities worldwide.
The MotoTag stands out with its multifunctional button, enabling users to locate their smartphones with a ring function and even serve as a remote control for capturing photos. This feature is particularly advantageous when paired with Motorola's Razr series, especially in flex view mode.
Privacy is a top priority for Motorola, as evidenced by the MotoTag's use of Google's secure Find My Device network to encrypt location data, ensuring it remains accessible only to authorized users. Additionally, automatic alerts notify users of unknown trackers, providing enhanced security against potential threats.
Setting up the MotoTag is effortless through Google Fast Pair, allowing quick pairing with Android smartphones. The dedicated MotoTag app enables customization of settings like tag names, alert volumes, and battery monitoring, ensuring a personalized user experience.
Designed to complement various accessories, the MotoTag boasts an IP67 rating, offering robust protection against dust, dirt, and water immersion up to one meter for 30 minutes. Powered by a CR2032 battery, it delivers up to a year of usage and allows for easy battery replacement.
While the MotoTag will initially roll out in selected markets, its availability in India remains unconfirmed by Motorola. Nevertheless, this addition to Motorola’s lineup promises to provide users peace of mind by securely tracking and safeguarding their belongings.
