OMKARASHWAR: Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, unveiled a remarkable 108-foot-tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya in the serene town of Omkareshwar. The inauguration of this imposing statue was a momentous occasion, attended by CM Shivraj Chouhan himself, who also took part in a solemn prayer ceremony marking the statue's unveiling.

Perched atop the majestic Mandhata mountain, the statue commands a breathtaking view overlooking the tranquil banks of the Narmada River. To bask in the grandeur of this sculpture, one must embark on an approximate 80-kilometer journey from the bustling hub of Indore.

In his address, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to Adi Guru Shankaracharya Maharaj, emphasizing his pivotal role in culturally unifying India. Adi Shankaracharya dedicated himself to disseminating the profound teachings of the Vedas among the masses and established four monasteries in different corners of the country, a legacy that continues to bind India culturally to this day.

Adi Shankaracharya's spiritual journey took him from his birthplace in Kerala to Omkareshwar, where he trekked over 1600 kilometers through dense forests in pursuit of knowledge. It was in Omkareshwar that he found his Guru and received the wisdom that would shape his life's mission. Subsequently, he embarked on a journey to Kashi (Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to the statue inauguration, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the Ekatmadham tree, underscoring the town's rich cultural heritage and its duty to pass down knowledge to future generations. He expressed confidence that the philosophy of Ekatmadham, rooted in the concept of Advaita (non-duality), would serve as a beacon of hope for the world in the future.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan remarked, "Adi Shankaracharya Maharaj found a profound Guru in Omkareshwar. The legacy of knowledge must endure, ensuring that future generations continue to receive this wisdom. Thus, not only are we erecting this divine statue, but we are also establishing Ekatmadham, with its foundation stone laid right here."

He further asserted, "I firmly believe that in the days ahead, our Ekatmadham, founded upon the idea of Advaita, will be instrumental in saving the world. This is why we are embarking on this significant project here in Omkareshwar."
