The 14 former MLAs who joined the BJP after leaving the Congress after the coup in MP were made ministers. A petition has been filed in the Jabalpur High Court regarding this decision of the Shivraj government. After hearing the petition, the High Court has issued notices to not only 14 ministers but also to CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Governor and Election Commission.
The petition filed by Advocate Aradhana Bhargava of Chhindwara states that the Shivraj government in MP has misused the rules of the Constitution. 22 MLAs of the Congress resigned from their posts and joined the BJP, but when Shivraj government expanded his cabinet, 14 of these former MLAs were awarded ministership, which is completely unconstitutional.
The petition also said that the decision to make a non-MLA a minister is made in odd circumstances, but in MP Shivraj government misused the rule of the Constitution and made the non-party MLA who resigned from his post a minister. After hearing the arguments raised in the petition, the Jabalpur High Court has issued a notice to all 14 ministers, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Governor, Election Commission and the Speaker of the Assembly, to direct their response by 14 December.
