Indore: With the beginning of the monsoon bringing heavy rainfall during the day in the state capital, the weather turned pleasant and provided relief from the hot humid conditions prevailing for the past one week in the city. Much-awaited showers lashed Indore city on Wednesday night and Thursday early morning and brought smiles on the faces of city residents, as well as farmers of the district. It started raining in the afternoon and continued till evening. Again it started early morning on Thursday, causing water logging in some parts of Indore. However, the trend of uneven rainfall continued in the city.
According to the reports, more rainfall was recorded in the western parts of the city than the eastern parts. The intensity of rain was also high in the western parts as many areas were waterlogged and traffic chaos was witnessed on major roads as usual. It began with drizzles in some parts of the city on Wednesday morning and, by afternoon, the clouds opened up, inundating many city roads for several hours. It rained moderately, but intermittently.
According to the Meteorological Department, the city recorded 12.4 mm (half inch) rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Wednesday. With Wednesday's rainfall, the city recorded a total of 100.7 mm (3.9 inches) rainfall in the current season.
