Dhaka: Nobel Prize-winning economist Muhammad Yunus is set to return to Bangladesh on Thursday, August 8. Yunus is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:10 pm on an Emirates flight from Dubai, subject to the flight being on time, according to a statement from Yunus Centre.

His return marks a significant moment as he is poised to lead the interim government following a meeting with President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Nahid Islam, a coordinator for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, confirmed that Yunus will take the oath as head of the interim government the day after his arrival, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Yunus Centre congratulated the students who were instrumental in achieving what they termed the Second Victory Day and urged the public to maintain peace.

"I congratulate the brave students who led us to our Second Victory Day and thank the people for their total support. Let us make the best use of this new victory and not let it slip away because of our mistakes. I appeal to everyone to stay calm and refrain from all kinds of violence. I urge all students, political party members, and non-political individuals to remain peaceful," the statement read.

The statement emphasized the country's potential and encouraged the public to work towards a brighter future. "This is our beautiful country with immense possibilities. We must protect and develop it for ourselves and future generations," the Yunus Centre added.

The Centre further stressed that violence is detrimental to their goals.

"Our youth are ready to lead in creating a new world. Let us not squander this chance by engaging in senseless violence. Violence is our enemy. Please do not create more enemies. Stay calm and focus on building the country. If we choose violence, everything will be destroyed. Stay peaceful and help those around you to remain calm," the statement added.
