Panaji: IPS officer Mukesh Kumar Meena of the Delhi Police's fiery 1989 bench has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Goa. The post of DGP was lying vacant after the sudden death of 1988 batch IPS officer Pranav Nanda in Goa. Pranav Nanda died of a heart attack in November 2019. DGP Nanda was on an official visit to Delhi at that time. Earlier, Mukesh Kumar Meena was transported to Mizoram.
Mukesh Kumar Meena, who came in discussions with Delhi Anti Corruption Branch (ACB), was posted in Delhi Police Special CP New Delhi Range. There was a fierce debate between the Kejriwal government and the central government regarding ACB. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung appointed Mukesh as the head of ACB, stating the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) under Delhi Police. In February 2016, Mukesh Meena, Chief of Delhi Anti Corruption Branch (ACB), filed a corruption case in the Department of Education appointments against the Delhi government even after the Andaman and Nicobar transfer.
Earlier too, the news of differences between ACB chief Mukesh Kumar Meena and Kejriwal government was made public several times. The Delhi government had termed the appointment of Mukesh Kumar Meena as the ACB chief illegal. Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung made Meena the Chief of ACB, while the first Chief of ACB SS Yadav was appointed by the Delhi Government.
