Today is the 43rd death anniversary of the famous singer Mukesh of his era. Mukesh's voice is no less than a gift for music lovers. Mukesh, who touched the heights of fame by becoming the voice of 'show man' Raj Kapoor, is still ruling the hearts of his loved ones with his songs. Mukesh has lent his melodious voice to more than one hit song. 'Ek Din Bik Jayega Mati Ke Mol, Jag Mein Reh Jayenge Pyaare Tere Bol' today he is not among us but his words and his voice still remain on the lips of millions, crores of fans. Born on July 22, 1923, Mukesh's full name was Mukesh Chandra Mathur. His father Zorawar Chandra Mathur was an engineer by profession. Mukesh had 10 siblings, out of which he was the number 6. Mukesh was interested in singing since childhood. Mukesh left his studies after class 10 and started working in PWD. Later, his passion for the movie was that he had come to Mumbai on Motilal's call. After coming here and failing in acting, he started showing skills in singing! Mukesh has also sung songs for hundreds of movies between 1940 and 1976. Raj Kapoor used to call him his soul. On August 27, 1976, Mukesh went to America for a show, during which he said goodbye to the world due to a heart attack there.

Mukesh produced the movie 'Malhar' in the year 1951 and the film 'Anuraag' in 1956. He also acted as a hero in 'Anuraag', 'Mashuka' and 'Nirdosh'. However, becoming a producer was a bad experience for him as his movies could not succeed in making an impact on the audience. The initial phase for Mukesh in the industry was full of troubles. Leaving his desire to become an actor and producer, Mukesh started singing completely after that! Then began his golden period.

From the 50s, Mukesh also started getting an identity. He started being called the voice of showman Raj Kapoor. However, by the 70s, Mukesh had become the voice of every big star of that time. In the year 1970, Mukesh got the second Filmfare Award for the song of Manoj Kumar's movie 'Pehchaan' and then in 1972, he was also given the Filmfare Award for the third time for the song of Manoj Kumar's film. Mukesh then worked mostly with big musicians like Kalyan Ji-Anand Ji, Laxmikant Pyarelal and RD Burman.

In the year 1974, Mukesh was given the National Film Award for the song of the movie 'Rajnigandha'. Mukesh also received the fourth Filmfare of his career for the title song of Yash Chopra's movie 'Kabhi Kabhie' in the year 1976. Most of the songs in Mukesh's voice were picturised on Dilip Kumar. Raj Kapoor and Mukesh were very good friends. Raj Kapoor and Mukesh were always ready to help each other in difficult times. Mukesh sang the last song of his career for his friend Raj Kapoor's movie.
