Let us tell you that on November 29, 2005 in Ghazipur, a total of 7 people, including the then BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai from Mohammadabad, were openly gunned down. This murder was carried out due to electoral enmity. Mukhtar Ansari and Afzal were made accused in this murder case. In fact, Krishnanand Rai had defeated Mukhtar's brother Afzal Ansari in the 2002 elections from the Mohammadabad assembly seat where the Ansari brothers used to speak. Due to which Mukhtar and Afzal were enraged.
Let us tell you that Krishnanand Rai was murdered when he was invited as the chief guest in a local cricket tournament organized in Siyadi village of Bhanvarkol block. When he was returning after inaugurating the match, the attackers ambushed near Basaniya Chatti fired 500 rounds from AK-47 on Krishnanand Rai's convoy. 7 people lost their lives in this shootout on the road in broad daylight, about 67 bullets were removed from Krishnanand Rai's body alone.
