Lucknow: Former Bahubali MLA and mafia Mukhtar Ansari suffered a major setback on Thursday. Mukhtar Ansari has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment in the gangster case. Along with the punishment, the MPMLA court of Ghazipur has also imposed a fine of five lakh rupees on Mukhtar. A gangster case was registered against Mukhtar Ansari in 1996. Due to non-trial for a long time, the matter kept getting postponed. Special Judge ADJ Durgesh Pandey found Mukhtar guilty of a gangster act on Thursday morning on the basis of witnesses and evidence.

After this, the punishment was announced against Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar from the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) appeared in the court through video conferencing during this period. Along with Mukhtar, his henchman Bhim Singh has also been sentenced to ten years imprisonment and fined. Bhim Singh was taken into custody on Thursday (December 15) morning after his conviction. 

The hearing of the gangster case registered against Mukhtar in 1996 was going on for a long time in the MPMPLA Special Court of the District Sessions Court. For the last few years, the Allahabad bench was hearing this case, but later the case was transferred to Ghazipur. The court proceedings began on Thursday amid tight security and elaborate arrangements. The judge had reserved his order after the final arguments in the matter on Monday, December 12, and it was pronounced in the court today. Meanwhile, security was tightened so that Mukhtar's henchmen could not do any criminal activity and law and order would be maintained.
