Mumbai is expected for a deluge today, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city. The alert also extends to several other districts in Maharashtra. Starting from August 24, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, including Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri in the Konkan region.

The IMD has forecast significant rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs over the next few hours. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has advised residents to exercise caution.

In addition to Mumbai, the IMD has placed an orange alert for Pune and Satara districts in western Maharashtra, as well as Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Gondia districts in Vidarbha for today.

Recent images on social media have shown light rain in Mumbai this morning. The IMD has indicated that several areas across Maharashtra will continue to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days, with some districts in Konkan and western Maharashtra under an orange alert on August 25 and 26.

An orange alert is issued when heavy rainfall exceeds 64.5 mm in a 24-hour period, which can disrupt daily life and lead to flooding in low-lying areas.

Relief for Delhi: Pleasant Weather Forecasted for August 24

MeanwhileDelhi is set to enjoy a break from severe weather today, with a forecast for generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall, along with possible thunderstorms. A yellow alert has been issued for the city, indicating potential disruptions due to these weather conditions.

August has brought significant rainfall to Delhi, with a total of 269.9 mm recorded so far. This is the highest amount of rainfall in the past decade, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The current rainfall figures are the highest since August 2013, and the city has experienced more rainy days than usual, as reported by the weather department.
