Mumbai City FC came back from a one-goal deficit to beat Churchill Brothers 2-1 in their first league match of Group D of the Super Cup football tournament here on Tuesday. Anshuman Kromah gave Churchill the lead in the ninth minute, but Mehtab Singh made it 1-1 in the 27th minute when he headed in Rowlyn Borges' free-kick. Lalian Changte then converted a penalty in the second minute of injury time to ensure Mumbai City's victory.

Earlier, there were reports that Indian Super League (ISL) runners-up Bengaluru FC would look to continue their run of form when they take on I-League side Srinidhi Deccan in the opening match of the Super Cup football tournament on Saturday. The team, led by the charismatic Sunil Chhetri, had to face defeat in the ISL final against ATK Mohun Bagan. In the Super Cup, they will have a great opportunity to fulfil their title dream.

In the second match of the day in Group A, I-League champions Punjab Kings will also face the challenge of home team Kerala Blasters. Punjab FC has earned the right to be a part of the ISL by winning the I-League season; it just has to fulfil the criteria for a club licence. This tournament is returning after a four-year gap. Its third season featured 16 teams: 11 from the ISL and five from the I-League.
