Mumbai: Amid the ongoing wave of coronavirus, Mumbai, Delhi Railway Stations witness huge crowds, as migrant workers arrived at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla on Tuesday that has affected Mumbai terminals severely.
As talks of a complete lockdown gathered momentum in Maharashtra, passenger rush has been seen on outstation trains in Mumbai since the last weekend. The Kurla station migrants police have had to be strict as crowds increased. Some time ago, the cops also had to remove people.
On Monday, an official of the Central Railway at LTT said since the last couple of days, the station in suburban Mumbai has registered a sharp increase in passengers coming to board trains.
The Railway administration, however, said the rush could be due to the summer season when a large number of people travel to their native places.
"This crowd at LTT, Kurla isn't something very unusual, it's routine summer season rush. Today total 23 trains are scheduled to depart from LTT, out of which 16 are either North-bound or East-bound. Out of these 16, 5 are summer special trains," the Central Railway CPRO said today.
"So considering the special trains and routine trains, this crowd is usual summer season crowd. No need to panic."
