Mumbai: The ill effects of radiatively forced warming are coming to the fore one by one. The latest news is that Mumbai, the economic capital of the country, is expected to sink by 2050 due to global warming. Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has made this scary prediction for the city.

He said that by 2050, a large part of South Mumbai, including the business district of Nariman Point and the State Secretariat Ministry, will go underwater due to rising sea levels. Speaking at the inauguration of the Mumbai Climate Action Plan and its website by Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray on Friday, Chahal said that 70 percent of A, B, C, and D wards in south Mumbai of the city will be submerged due to climate change.

He said that nature has been giving warnings, but if people do not wake up, the situation will become alarming. He said, 80 percent of the areas like Kapha Parade, Nariman Point, and Ministry will be in the water. The municipal commissioner also said that it is only 25-30 years as 2050 is not far away.
