The Mumbai police have taken a lawyer into custody for spreading false news on social media in the case of Bollywood actors Sushant Singh Rajput's death. A police official said on Friday that the Delhi resident lawyer is accused of presenting false theories like conspiracy behind the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and talent manager Disha Salian. He said that the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has been taken lawyer Vidayat Anand into custody from his Delhi residence on Thursday morning.
According to the FIR lodged in August, Anand has been posting videos of derogatory statements and allegations against Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray on YouTube. In these videos, Anand has stated that Aditya is involved in Sushant and Disha's death. Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Milind Bharanbey spoke, after investigation, the police arrested the offender. Anand has been taken into custody under various sections of IPC and IT acts in addition to defamation. He was produced in court on Friday from where he was sent to police custody till 19th October 2020.
According to media reports, in addition to which NCB raids a drug peddler from Mumbai in a drug case involving the Sushant case on Thursday. NCB officials have been taken into custody by a drug peddler named Jai Madhok, who is residing in the Santa Cruz area of Mumbai. It is learned that the person is accused of using and supplying drugs. Samir Wankhede, zonal director, NCB said that Madhok is also a distributor of cocaine as well as hash. According to the NCB, several drug peddlers arrested had named Jai Madhok during interrogation.
