Pune: The Economic Offenses Wing of Mumbai Police has arrested two auditors involved in the PMC bank scam late on Monday night. These auditors will be produced in court on Tuesday for further remand. Earlier five people have been detained in this scam. The EOW has reported that Jayesh Dhirajlal Sanghani and Ketan Pravinchand Lakdawala were summoned for questioning.

During the interrogation, their relationship with the real estate company HDIL was revealed, but even then they could not give more information on being the auditor of PMC bank, due to which they have been arrested for further questioning. In September, the Reserve Bank of India banned various types of banking activities for six months on PMC Bank. The bank then allowed the account holders to withdraw one thousand rupees in six months. RBI had dissolved the board of the bank and appointed an administrator.

PMC Bank is among the 10 main urban co-operative banks in the country. In fact, the RBI had imposed several restrictions on PMC bank on September 23, including withdrawals, after it became aware of the stranded debt. After the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) meeting, Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the audit of the bank related case was going on, the irregularity is expected to be revealed soon.
