Today in Mumbai: Anticipating a deluge, IMD predicts substantial torrential rain with an orange alert for tomorrow. The Indian Meteorological Department has foreseen a day of intense rain in Mumbai on Tuesday. Over the past twenty-four hours, the metropolis has experienced an approximate rainfall of 225 mm. To caution the city about the heavy precipitation, IMD has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday and upgraded it to orange for Wednesday.

The Colaba region of Mumbai registered a significant 106 mm of rainfall, while the Sanctacruz region witnessed a total of 119.9 mm of rainfall in the past twenty-four hours.

With the relentless downpour, commuters in Mumbai have been grappling with transportation issues. The Central Railway suburban services were hampered by the heavy rain, exacerbated by an engine failure during the morning rush hours.

In the midst of the downpour, several commuters encountered difficulties due to delayed local trains, according to PTI reports. Complaints also arose about 10-15 minutes of delays in the Central Railway suburban services. Bandra, Dahisar, Chembur, Fort, Matunga, Byculla, and other parts of the city experienced substantial rainfall throughout the night, as confirmed by civic officials.

Fortunately, no significant waterlogging has been reported anywhere in the city so far. Road traffic, although slow, has remained normal.

At Atgaon station in the neighboring Thane district, the engine of the Gorakhpur-LTT Superfast Express developed a technical snag. A relief engine was arranged for the train, and the trains on the route were diverted via a loop line.

The bus services provided by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking have remained unaffected, with no route diversions caused by the rain, as stated by civic officials.

The IMD's latest forecast issues a warning of "heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs, with isolated places experiencing very heavy rainfall" in the next 24 hours.
