UTTARAKHAND: The relentless downpour on July 16 wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand, triggering perilous landslides that obstructed numerous roads. Authorities reported that the Ganga's water level soared to 463.20 meters, causing inundation in Sangam Ghat, Ramkund, Dhaneshwar Ghat, and Fuladi Ghat. This surge was a consequence of releasing 2,000-3,000 cusecs of water from the GVK hydroelectric project dam, situated on the Alaknanda river.

Brijesh Bhatt, the Disaster Management officer of Tehri District, emphasized the urgency of the situation and urged the public to steer clear of the riverbanks.
