Mumbai: Mumbai received intermittent rain last Wednesday, causing waterlogging on roads in many low-lying areas. Heavy rain also lashed several areas during the period and affected train services. Mumbai local train service between Umbermali railway station and Kasara has been stopped and train service between Igatpuri and Khardi has also been temporarily suspended. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that rain is likely to occur again in several districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai today. In fact, the IMD has issued a red alert for 5 districts of the state even today.
The list includes Kolhapur, Pune, Satara, Raigad, Ratnagiri. Jalna, Beed, Nanded, Latur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Satara, Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg in the state have also been predicted to receive heavy rain today i.e. That's the orange alert for Mumbai today. Let me tell you all that from last Tuesday night to 10 pm on Wednesday, Kasara received 207 mm of rain, out of which 45 mm occurred in the last one hour.
Officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) say, "Mumbai recorded 68.72 mm rainfall within ten hours after 8 am on Wednesday while eastern and western suburbs recorded 58.75 mm and 58.24 mm rainfall.'' The rain had subsided a bit in the afternoon but intensified again at night. Not only that, the India Meteorological Department had issued a 'red alert' for Mumbai last Wednesday which meant that it could rain heavily.
