MUMBAI: As Mumbai continues to grapple with relentless rainfall, resulting in water-logging, flooding, and traffic congestion, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in the city and its suburbs on Friday.
Live updates on Delhi flooding: The IMD's regional center has predicted moderate rainfall for the city and suburbs in the next forty-eight hours. Meanwhile, the expected range for the maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai is around 31 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. Social media is abuzz with videos showing water-logged roads and long traffic jams in the city.
Temporary closure of Andheri Subway due to water-logging on Friday: The incessant rainfall might offer a respite for those seeking a break and exploring nearby destinations. However, it has also led to water-logging in major parts of the city.
Due to waterlogging, Andheri Subway will remain closed on Friday. The Mumbai local police have informed that traffic will be diverted to Vile Parle bridge and Captain Gore Marg S.V road.
Later, vehicle traffic on Andheri Subway resumed after the water was drained.
Updates on Mumbai train services today: Despite the continuous rainfall, the Western Railway zone has reported that the Mumbai suburban and Harbour Line trains are operating normally. Both the Mumbai Suburban line, from Churchgate to Dahanu Road, and the Harbour line, between Mahim to Goregaon, are functioning without disruptions.
Meanwhile, the Howrah CSMT Duronto Express (12262) from Mumbai has been rescheduled to depart from Howrah at 7:45, which is two hours later than its scheduled time of 5:45 on July 14. Please note that this delay may impact train timings along the entire route.
IMD weather update: In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD has predicted light to moderate widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall over the Konkan and Goa regions, as well as the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, in the next five days. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is expected over Gujarat state within the next 24 hours. The weather forecasting agency has also warned of isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand during the next five days. Similarly, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Meghalaya are likely to experience isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on July 14, followed by a gradual reduction in intensity.
