The University of Mumbai has asked the colleges to direct the backlog examinations for the first and second-year students for the academic session 2019-20 by November 30. The university has asked the colleges to organize their backlog exam within 120 days of the resumption of classes. On the other hand, students should note that the first and second-year backlog examinations will now be conducted online at the college level in MCQ (multiple choice questions) format like the final year examinations.

In June, a committee appointed by the state recommended that after reopening the colleges, the backlog examination for the students can be organized. However, there is no clarity on when the state government will approve the reopening of colleges. The university wanted to complete these backlog exams in a period of 120 days so that the students, colleges and universities could focus on the upcoming semester and exam.

In this connection, the officer told in a media report, "Our first priority in the last few months was to complete the remaining graduation exams. Since we have completed the exam and announced many important results, we are strategizing to complete the backlog exams soon. These exams are organized at the college level anyway. After that, we have to focus on semester-end exam after Diwali this year. Whereas the colleges which started from March 23 having previously completed backlog log exams, they do not have to re-organize. Colleges will be given a Diwali holiday from November 12 to 18 this year. In addition to this, Candidates can visit the official website for details related to the result of Mumbai University examinations.
