Lucknow: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed a batch of petitions seeking permission to wear hijab in schools and colleges. The court, in its judgement, said the hijab was not part of the mandatory practice of Islam. Now, Sumaiya, daughter of poet Munawwar Rana, has questioned the court's decision. She has said that it is strange to hear the court's statement that the hijab is not a part of Islam.
Sumaiya Rana further said that a particular religion is being targeted for the past few days. I would like to narrate my pain through my father's lines. Sumaiya Rana said, adding that it was very strange to hear the Karnataka High Court when he said that the hijab is not a part of Islam.
Sumaiya, while reading verse no. 33 of the Quran, said that it has been said by Allah that when the daughters come out of the house, they should cover themselves up, this is what the Quran is saying. In Islam, although there is no coercion on anyone, Talibani action is not taken. Sumaiya further said "I think the court should reconsider its decision. We should find the second option if the college has the same uniform.''
