Municipal corporation hit Indore pockets, now these things will have double tax

In the covid-19 period, the Municipal corporation once again made an impact on the pockets of the already troubled people. The corporation is also going to double the carbonization with a waste management fee from 1st April. A new tax on the public is also going to be released as a sewerage charge. Additional Commissioner S Krishna Chaitanya says, the corporation spent Rs. 204 crore on waste management in 2019-20, 302 crore on water operation and retention and Rs. 27 crore on maintenance of sewerage.

In lieu of which, as per the existing rate, the Municipal corporation was given Rs. 38 crore of waste management fee and Rs. 52 crore of carbonization. The corporation has been sent to the state Government by making an audit report based on the demand for increasing the rate by 5 times. After the Gazette notification, the government has been allowed to increase the rate to a maximum of double the rate of the corporation. The proposal for the rate in terms of new rates has been submitted to the corporation administrator and the prospective Dr. Pawan Sharma. He gave the nod. Now, the new rates are going to effect from 1st April 2021.

60% sewerage charge of carbonization: Where it has revealed that 60% of the new water tax amount for maintenance of sewerage line is also going to be charged as sewerage charge. This tax is being levied by the Municipal corporation for the first time. Usage Charges (per month) Residential 240 Commercial 900 Industrial 1308 Government-Semi-Official 240 Rupees.

Property tax: 3 to 4 per cent impact: The three rate zones of property in the Indore are 6, 8 and 10 percent. If the ALV of a property is between 6 to 36 thousand, then it attracts 6 percent property, if it is in the middle of 36 to 60 it will be 8 percent, and if it is more than 60 thousand then 10 percent property tax will have to pay.

Septage management charges as well, where no line; Where there is no sewer line and there is a septic tank, septage management is now to be charged. Its amount is going to be 40 percent of the water tax. Accordingly, Rs 160 per month will be charged for residential and government, 600 for commercial, and Rs 872 per month for industrial.
