According to reports, the police arrested a cleric on Wednesday for raping a nine-year-old girl. According to reports received in the case, the cleric was identified as Mohammed Ahmed, who was hired to teach the Quran. He was arrested by the police on the basis of a complaint by the victim's mother.

According to the police, A woman had complained that Mohammed Ahmed, who is a cleric in a mosque located inside the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus. She was invited by the lady to her house to teach the Quran. Aligarh SSP Akash Kulhari told ANI that he was involved in misbehaving with his nine-year-old daughter and sexually assaulting her. The case was registered under the POCSO Act and the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the accused Mohammed Ahmed has been arrested at the women police station.

The accused Ahmed told media, "Sir, there was a little flirting." I taught the child the text of the Quran. This (sexual harassment) happened four or five times. AMU PRO Omar Salim Pirjada said Ahmed has been removed from his post after the incident.
