Bangalore: A shocking case has been reported from Mangaluru in Karnataka. Here, a group called the Muslim Defence Force 24×7 has openly threatened Muslim women who take off the burqa in public places for not wearing a burqa and taking selfies. Threatening Muslim women through social media posts, the group wrote, "Those Muslim women who do not wear burqas and take selfies by taking off the burqa in public places will be dealt with sternly." 

According to Mangaluru Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar, the group describes itself as the custodians of Muslim rights and says it is its duty to prevent Muslim women from breaking their religious traditions. He said that this group is being constantly monitored. Talking to the media, CP Shashi Kumar said, "This message is going viral on social media. Apart from Instagram and Facebook, this message is also being made viral to people on WhatsApp. The police have also received these messages on the WhatsApp group.''

The group has said through social media that women who do not wear a burqa in public places or take selfies by removing it will also be beaten up to teach them a lesson. The message issued by the Muslim group in the Kannada language reads, "In the basement of the mall, we saw many women doing wrong things by taking off the burqas. Our workers have already warned them. If that happens again, (women) will be beaten up. He also asked parents to keep an eye on them whenever their women visit colleges and other public places.''

The Mangaluru Police Commissioner has said that his team is constantly trying to find out about this group and who are these people. According to the police commissioner, they have received information about some members of the group, but what is the main source of this message, who is the mastermind of it, the police are trying to find out.
